This is the recap of the anime series SPY x FAMILY Season 2 Episode 2!
SPY x FAMILY Season 2 Episode 2 begins where the Episode 1 has ended. While lounging on the couch, Bond experiences a vision of complete darkness and wonders about its meaning, fearing that a scientist from Project Apple might come to kill him. Distressed, he glances at family photos, imagining his loved ones mourning his death, but asserting that he died happily. Accepting his perceived fate, Bond decides to bid farewell to Anya. However, she dismisses him, claiming to be busy with homework, and shuts the door on him.
Undeterred, Bond approaches Yor, who apologizes for forgetting to buy more dog food. With Loid absent, Yor takes on the responsibility of preparing Bond's dinner. Reflecting on his ominous vision, Bond becomes convinced that he will die from eating Yor's cooking. Panic sets in, and Bond contemplates refusing the meal, only to remember Anya's warning that Yor might kill him if he upsets her. Fearing the consequences of rejection, Bond thrashes around the house but devises a plan: if Loid returns home early, he can prepare Bond's dinner, potentially averting his supposed demise. Determined, Bond unlocks the door and makes a run for it, leaving a bewildered Yor behind.
Bond dashes through the streets of Berlint, following Loid's scent until he locates him outside the Born Industries facility. Loid is on a mission to steal a sample of "Gerrulimus," a new truth serum developed by the company. Unable to collect sufficient intel for impersonation, Loid plans to infiltrate directly. To his surprise, Bond appears and insists on joining him, telling him to go home.
Refusing to back down, Bond tries to explain his situation to Loid, guiding him through a route devoid of people. Puzzled, Loid wonders how Bond knows this and recalls Born Industries' suspected involvement with Project Apple. Assuming Bond seeks revenge against the scientists who mistreated him and his friends as test subjects, Loid allows him to tag along for their missions.
Together, they infiltrate the facility and navigate to the laboratory filled with specimen lockers, one of them housing the Gerrulimus serum. While Loid searches for the sample, Bond experiences another vision. Anticipating the staff's return to the lab, Loid plans to confront them, instructing Bond to run home. Distressed, Bond warns Loid to hide before leaving a note in the lab, falsely claiming that the Gerrulimus has been stolen. The ruse tricks the staff into checking the locker, providing an opportunity for Loid and Bond to ambush and incapacitate them.
Loid expresses gratitude to Bond as he secures the Gerrulimus sample, telling him he can go home early. In response, Bond envisions Loid preparing his dinner while Yor expresses joy for his safety. Overjoyed, Bond barks with delight. In the morning, an alarm in an Eden Academy dorm interrupts its residents' slumber. Emile Elman and Ewen Egeburg rouse Damian Desmond, urging him not to miss morning muster. However, Damian, sporting dark circles under his eyes, oversleeps, and as punishment, he is assigned chores by the dorm mother and restricted from leaving school grounds until completion. Worriedly observing from a distance, Ewen and Emile share concerns about Damian's well-being.
During the chores, Damian's friends approach to check on him. Despite studying throughout the night, Damian is determined to earn more Stella Stars, pushing himself to the limits. Ewen expresses worry that Damian is overexerting himself, especially when their dorm tutor plans to treat them to a movie and roast beef later. Damian, however, declines the offer, opting to continue studying with the hope of earning his father's praise through hard work.
After being dismissed by the dorm mother, Ewen and Emile purposefully linger in the hallways, adopting a disheveled appearance. Witnessing this, Henry Henderson decides to mete out punishment, a consequence that Ewen and Emile eagerly accept with excitement.
Damian is surprised when his friends insist on helping him with the chores so that they can all go to the movies together. Although Damian initially tells them to go without him, they stay to assist him. Ewen, in a playful gesture, suggests they pretend to be Imperial Scholars by wrapping a sheet around himself like a cloak. As they engage in some lighthearted play, Henderson observes from the inside, appreciating the precious elegance of youthful friendship.
While the boys are busy with their chores, Damian gazes at the sky in a daze. Mr. Green, the school custos, jests that Damian looks like someone who would prefer to be at a picnic, a notion Damian awkwardly denies. Henderson, amused by the boys' antics, decides to impose a new punishment: a field research trip with Mr. Green. Taking the boys on a fast-paced canoe ride, Mr. Green plans to lead them to a lake for a picnic.
During the ride, Damian spots an approaching "waterfall" and accidentally falls off the canoe. Panicking, he cries for help, prompting Ewen and Emile to jump in after him, only to find themselves in the same situation. The boys decide to let Damian survive to live on their dreams, a sentiment that moves him. Mr. Green intervenes, revealing that the water is shallow, and embarrasses the boys.
Once on land, Mr. Green starts a warm fire and instructs the boys to catch some fish for dinner. They search for bait and discover earthworms under a rock, frightening Damian. Ewen and Emile playfully chase Damian with worms before they all start fishing, successfully catching enough fish for a satisfying meal. As they enjoy their hard-earned dinner, Mr. Green advises Damian that it's okay to indulge in enjoyment from time to time. After eating, he takes the boys to "Stella Lake," a sight Damian is excited to see.
Upon arriving at Stella Lake, the boys are captivated by its beauty, where the stars reflect on the surface, creating a celestial spectacle that seems within reach. Damian expresses surprise that there are no actual Stellas, but he acknowledges that the trip was not in vain. Lying on the ground, Damian, Ewen, and Emile gaze at the stars. Emile whimsically describes the stars as resembling sugar sprinkled across the sky, prompting Damian to burst into laughter, followed by the other boys.
Mr. Green suggests it's time to head back and reminds them to write a proper field report. Upon their return to the dorm, Mr. Green hands the reports to Henderson. Appreciating the outing, Henderson thanks Green and inquires if he was successful in "letting the boys loose," a confirmation from Green.
As Henderson reviews the reports, he notes that Damian's needs improvement, pointing out its brevity. SPY x FAMILY Season 2 Episode 2 ends on a high note. Despite the feedback, the boys have had an unforgettable experience at Stella Lake, enjoying the magic of the starlit sky.
