Undead Unluck Episode 1 Anime Recap

Fast forward to August 1, 2020, in Shibuya. Fuuko completes a manga about a boy and girl from the snowy city. She feels somewhat disappointed that her youth didn't unfold in a similar way. Having finished her favorite manga, Fuuko contemplates ending her life. Standing on a bridge over train tracks, she prepares to jump. A man intervenes, cautioning her about the danger. Fuuko explains her desire for romance, but due to her physical condition, she believes it's unattainable, leading her to contemplate suicide.

Brandishing a knife, she warns the man that touching her will result in contracting an incurable disease and death. Undeterred, the man intentionally moves into the knife, stabbing himself. He seizes Fuuko's face and pulls her away from the edge, expressing ignorance about diseases transmitted by touch. As he touched her, he questions what will happen and where he will be hurt. Fuuko forewarns him about her misfortune, and the edge he stands on breaks. He falls and is struck by a train. Fuuko weeps, blaming herself for another person's death.

The man's head swiftly returns to the bridge, and he comprehends that the "disease" claim is a safeguard for others. Regenerating his body from the head, he considers it his fortunate day. As Fuuko witnesses him in the nude, she strikes him in the groin and flees, screaming that he's a zombie. Using his blood as thrusters, he flies toward Fuuko, seizes her, and clarifies that he's Undead, not a zombie. Despite having questions for her, he notices approaching police and leaps away, carrying Fuuko to a rooftop.

Fuuko warns him that touching her will activate her misfortune, but Undead assures her it'll be fine as he's touching her clothes. He presses her to explain her "unluck," but since Fuuko initially wanted to die, she hesitates to talk. Undead decides to swing her around, prompting her fear of falling, and she agrees to open up.

Fuuko reveals that it all began ten years ago when she was eight. Her parents left on a business trip, and she hugged and kissed them at the airport. Thirty minutes later, the plane exploded, claiming the lives of all 270 people on board, including her parents. She learned that physical contact brought harm to others, and she felt responsible for her parents' deaths. Since then, she always covers her skin. Undead embraces her, noting that the biggest stroke of misfortune occurred after a hug. A crate of bananas falls from a plane and hits Undead, but he stands up, angered by Fuuko's apparent lie. Seizing the opportunity to escape, Fuuko slips on a banana and falls off the building. As she plummets, she reflects on her unfulfilled life and realizes she isn't ready to die.

Undead swoops in and saves her, declaring he won't let her die now that he's discovered a power that could bring him true death. He needs to understand how to trigger a significant stroke of misfortune to achieve that. Undead heads to his hideout, while a scarred man informs his superiors that Undead is en route with the girl. He receives orders to apprehend her after confirming her ability.

At his hideout, Undead discovers that the duration of contact correlates with the magnitude of unluck. Intrigued, he decides to test the impact of surface area and instructs Fuuko to remove her clothes to maximize skin contact. Unwilling to comply, Fuuko flees, and Undead gives chase. During the pursuit, Fuuko's hat and jacket snag on an object, revealing her exceptionally long hair. Catching up, Undead notices and, in response to Fuuko's tears, decides to help her by giving her a haircut.

Undead Unluck Recap

With scissors in hand, Undead holds Fuuko, ensuring her unluck won't activate during the haircut. Grateful for the gesture, Fuuko thanks him. Undead eagerly awaits the onset of unluck after holding her for 15 minutes when suddenly, the scarred man beheads him. Expressing gratitude to Fuuko for luring Undead into vulnerability, the scarred man places Undead's head in a special capsule to prevent regeneration. Fuuko is handcuffed, and the scarred man reveals their mission to regulate unselected Negators or UMA causing chaos. Impressed by Fuuko's lethal ability, he acknowledges their ability to touch her using gloves.

When Fuuko questions their motives, the scarred man suggests her power is a perfect tool for murder, but Fuuko insists Undead sought to use it for self-destruction, distinguishing him from the organization. Grabbing her face, the scarred man warns her to choose her words carefully, hinting at the consequences of defiance. Fuuko, though remorseful for Undead's capture, expresses gratitude for the haircut. As she cries, a lightning strike hits the man holding the capsule with Undead's head, and the scarred man attributes it to his own unluck since he hadn't touched Fuuko.

The capsule shatters, freeing Undead. As he regenerates, the scarred man commands his men to engage, criticizing Undead's combat skills. Undead acknowledges his current amateur status but reveals he sealed a century's worth of memories with a cork in his brain. Extracting a metal card, he swiftly dispatches the men and asserts that Fuuko's true unluck was the lightning bolt, not the beheading.

Undead reinserts the metal card, and the scarred man, desperate, places his sword at Fuuko's throat, demanding Undead decapitate himself. Without hesitation, Undead complies, ignoring Fuuko's plea to stop the act. Undead tosses his head toward the scarred man, bids farewell, and encourages Fuuko to run. As Fuuko flees, she devises a plan to trigger a significant stroke of unluck. Leaping and kissing Undead on the cheek, she runs away. The scarred man, perplexed, takes Undead's head, and Fuuko warns that her unluck is imminent.

Undead smiles, initiating his regeneration. He instructs Fuuko to flee, seizing the scarred man and anchoring himself to him. A meteor descends, obliterating the building. Emerging from the ruins with the scarred man's katana impaled in his chest, Undead thanks Fuuko for her assistance, noting her unique unluck. Fuuko introduces herself as Fuuko Izumo and asks for Undead's name. Unable to recall, Undead is content with being called Undead.

The recap of the anime series Undead Unluck Episode 1 concludes on a high note as Fuuko suggests the name "Andy," finding it reminiscent of "Undead." Surprised, Andy proposes they should have sex next, prompting Fuuko to sprint away, leaving Andy in pursuit, bewildered by her reaction.
