This is the recap of the anime series SPY x FAMILY Season 2 Episode 3!
SPY x FAMILY Season 2 Episode 3 begins where Episode 2 has ended. After successfully apprehending everyone involved in an illegal deal, Yuri and his captain turn their attention to a new assignment: investigating Franklin Perkin, a former newspaper reporter turned slanderous writer whose articles are influencing public opinion in Westalis against Ostania. Despite his voluntary overworking, Yuri enthusiastically accepts the mission. Yuri meticulously monitors Franklin without leaving behind any details in his reports, impressing his lieutenant.
However, the lieutenant, noticing Yuri's exhaustion from two consecutive all-nighters, tries to persuade him to rest. In an attempt to get Yuri to take a break, the lieutenant deliberately uses words that trigger a reaction similar to Yor's name. This visibly unsettles Yuri, prompting the lieutenant to insist on him getting some rest.
While shadowing Franklin, Yuri and the lieutenant observe him meddling with a group of boys playing, taking pictures as he throws a boy's toy pistol in the trash and watches them retrieve it. When confronted by the boys, Franklin intimidates them, triggering anger in Yuri.
As they continue surveillance, Yuri overhears a conversation between Franklin and his father, revealing Franklin's frustration in trying to make the country a better place for them to live while struggling to make ends meet. This revelation deeply affects Yuri, leading him to briefly articulate his inner thoughts aloud, acknowledging that Franklin's motivation stems from concern for his family. Yuri then tears out the report and crumples it, reflecting the internal conflict within him.
Yuri deduces that Franklin contacts his publishers at the post office by slipping his manuscripts into the mail. Despite some hesitation, Franklin sends his work through the postal service, sealing his fate. Four days later, Yuri and fellow SSS agents gather outside Franklin's home, ready to make the arrest. Franklin, accepting his situation, steps outside to meet them.
Expressing gratitude for not arresting him in front of his family, Franklin calmly faces the officers. Yuri, as he places handcuffs on Franklin, responds to the latter's inquiry about who is truly pathetic—those fighting against tyranny or those serving as its lapdogs. Yuri asserts that he would never do anything to cause his sister pain. As Franklin is escorted away, Yuri mentions he will apply for financial assistance for Franklin's father, earning a thankful response.
Back at headquarters, Yuri's boss commends him, expressing pride in his accomplishments. When asked about his feelings on the job, Yuri confidently states that this is the right path for him, vowing to one day capture Twilight.
Later, Yuri pays a visit to the Forgers' home, where Loid, Yor, and Anya are present. When Yor asks if anything is wrong, Yuri simply expresses his desire to see her face. Reading Yuri's mind, Anya pats him, and Yor, too, pats Yuri on the head, offering words of praise. Overjoyed, Yuri enthusiastically calls for Yor, unintentionally embarrassing her and causing Anya some heartburn.
In the latest episode of Spy Wars, Bondman embarks on a mission with his partner, Agent M, who declares her love for him during their daring escape. Bondman and M encounter an enemy spy who threatens his life, prompting Bondman to resolve the conflict between their nations, envisioning a future where he and M can be together. As the narrative unfolds, Bondman attracts the affections of various women, ranging from the daughter of a nuclear scientist to a terrorist's girlfriend and even the head of an evil organization and his own landlord.
Despite accumulating numerous love interests, Bondman faces a dilemma when all the women become furious and demand that he choose only one. Stubbornly refusing to pick one over the others, Bondman finds himself brutally beaten by the angered women, who eventually abandon him. Reflecting on his experiences, Bondman muses to himself that danger is an inherent part of the spy profession.
Anya, watching the episode, comments that it must be one of those lovey-dovey shows she can discuss with Becky. Loid, bewildered and repulsed by Bondman's womanizing behavior, tells Anya to stop. In a post-credits scene, the Forgers are on the rooftop of a department store. Anya spots large electric plush animals and expresses a desire to ride the panda. Loid, considering them pointless, hesitates, but when Anya starts crying and at Yor's suggestion, he reluctantly allows her to ride the animal. As Anya expresses a desire to ride it again, Loid reflects on his difficulty understanding children.
Later, Anya expresses her desire to go to the ocean after seeing people enjoying it on TV. Loid compromises by taking her to the pool, where Anya initially has fun. However, her enjoyment is short-lived as she hears the thoughts of other children urinating in the pool, leaving her shocked and disgusted. Back at home, Anya declares that she never wants to go to the pool again, leaving Loid once again confused.
In another post-credits scene, at Cecile Hall's boys' dormitory, Ewen and Emile prepare for morning muster. Recalling Damian's previous tardiness, they go to wake him, but Damian is already awake, having risen an hour ago to study. He attributes the previous instance to being a fluke, earning admiration from his friends. SPY x FAMILY Season 2 Episode 3 ends on a high note. In contrast, at the Forger home, Loid struggles to wake Anya to ensure she doesn't miss the bus and incur a Tonitrus Bolt for being tardy. Unfortunately, Anya remains deeply asleep, leading to her being tardy for school.
